O.J.'s 'confession' 'What If I did it'
Thursday, 16 November 2006
O.J Simpson plans for a TV interview and book titled "If I Did It" — an account the publisher pronounced "his confession" and media executives condemned as revolting and exploitive.

Fox, which plans to air an interview with Simpson Nov. 27 and 29, said Simpson describes how he would have committed the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman, "if he were the one responsible."

Denise Brown, sister of Simpson's slain ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, lashed out at publisher Judith Regan of ReganBooks for "promoting the wrongdoing of criminals" and commercializing abuse. The book goes on sale Nov. 30.

She added: "It's unfortunate that Simpson has decided to awaken a nightmare that we have painfully endured and worked so hard to move beyond." Regan refused to say what Simpson is being paid for the book but said he came to her with the idea.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Erik Morales 3
Thursday, 16 November 2006
Pacquiao and Morales each own a victory over the other in their two previous fights - both considered "Fight of the Year" candidates -- which have attracted over 700,000 pay-per-view buys combined. Promoted by Top Rank, in association with Wynn Las Vegas, Pacquiao-Morales III will be a 12-round super featherweight bout, taking place Saturday, November 18, from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV, and broadcast live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

"I will beat him in this fight just like I beat him last fight," said Pacquiao. "I am the best super featherweight in the world and I cannot wait to prove it to Erik Morales...again. Morales will fee the strength of the people of The Philippines behind every punch I land on him. This may be the 'Grand Finale' on our trilogy, but it is just the beginning for Manny Pacquiao."

Morales is also a true sportsman as he displayed after his loss to Pacquiao in January.

"I ran into a guy with a lot of ambition who wanted to win very much," said Morales. "He was in great condition and was obviously well-prepared to fight me. It was a very tough, intense fight. I think I had some good moments early, but was getting very tired as the fight was going in the later rounds. I have nothing but respect for Pacquiao, he's a good person and he beat me. You won't hear any excuses from me."

Oscar De La Hoya Vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. to fight May 5, 2007 !
Tuesday, 14 November 2006
According to boxingtalk.com who broke the news first, the deal has been made. The stipulated weight for the match will be 154 pounds. The fight, which will be held May 5, 2007, at Staples Center and Las Vegas' MGM Grand Hotel, according to Richard Schaefer, chief executive of Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya's company. Another source close to the negotiations confirmed that Staples Center is a serious player in the site fight, although the Las Vegas company clearly has the resources to win a bidding war.

"This is the kind of fight Mayweather wanted," Schaefer said. "The best pound-for-pound fighter, Mayweather, will be fighting the best pay-per-view fighter, De La Hoya."

De La Hoya, who has won titles in six weight divisions, is coming off a dominating performance last May, a sixth-round TKO victory over Ricardo Mayorga to take the 154-pound World Boxing Council title.

Mayweather, who has won championships in four weight categories, is also coming off one of his most one-sided fights, having won every round on two of the three judges' scorecards in earning the WBC 147-pound title 10 days ago from Carlos Baldomir.

"Oscar recognizes that Floyd Mayweather is no Ricardo Mayorga," Schaefer said, "and Floyd recognizes that Oscar is no Carlos Baldomir." -Jacob Flores
