Cobra Starship Sassy Back Tour |

The North American itinerary – dubbed the “Sassy Back Tour” – will take off on October 7th at Buffalo, New York’s Club Infinity, and continue through late-November (see attached itinerary). Cobra Starship – who are currently on the road co-headlining the Vans Warped Tour – will be accompanied by Forever The Sickest Kids, Hit The Lights, and Sing It Loud.
“Sassy Back Tour” comes hot on the heels of this spring’s “The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour.” The 50-city trek sold out every date, with demand for tickets so great that the band had to add a second show in many markets, as well as scheduling matinees and playing two shows in one day in both Boston and New York. Since then, the dance-punk sensations have blown it up at festivals around the world, from the Bamboozle and mtvU’s Campus Invasion to the UK’s annual Give It A Name.
“¡VIVA LA COBRA!” – which follows the band’s 2006 debut, “WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, WE RULE THE STREETS” – is highlighted by the singles “The City Is At War” and “Guilty Pleasure.” The “Guilty Pleasure” companion video has just been added into rotation on FUSE’s Steven’s Untitled Rock Show, having already begun drawing play at MTV, mtvU, and MTVtr3s (where Cobra Starship was recently named “Artist of the Week”). In addition, the band has performed “Guilty Pleasure” on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Conan O’Brien and MTV’s Spring Break. The album’s first single, “The City Is At War,” was a top 10 sensation on MTV, MTV2, and mtvU. Cobra Starship were among the first stars of MTV’s 52 Bands, a special feature segment that highlights one new band per week throughout the year.
Largely written on tour during the sold-out 2007 Honda Civic Tour with Fall Out Boy, “¡VIVA LA COBRA!” has drawn acclaim for its idiosyncratic blending of eclectic party anthems and witty cultural critique. Alternative Press, which recently featured the band on the cover of its June issue, gave it a 4-star review stating, “Contemporary emo-pop sensibilities meet ‘80s party abandon on this record, and neither have sounded so enjoyable in years.” Blender hailed it as “blue-eyed soul with a wink and a dose of manic energy,” while Penthouse praised frontman Gabe Saporta for his chronicles of “downtown life in a mashed-up universe: ‘80s synths, guest raps, thundering party rock, and Spanish trash talk somehow make sense after a spin in (Saporta’s) cultural blender.”  Be first to comment this article | Read more...

Forget about “bitch a$$ness!” Diddy returns to MTV with his three musical sensations Danity Kane, Donnie Klang and Day26 armed and ready for another exciting new season of MTV’s “Making The Band 4” premiering on its brand new night and time on Tuesday, August 19th at 9pm ET/PT. Fans can get ready for the season on Tuesday, August 12th at 9pm ET/PT with “Making The Band’s Greatest Hits” hosted by Aubrey from Danity Kane, solo artist Donnie Klang and Robert from Day26. During this special they will take viewers through some of the greatest moments from past seasons of “Making the Band” including a sneak peek at some of the excitement and drama that’s ahead in the new season.
Coming off of one of the series’ highest rated seasons, which reached over 55.1 million viewers, this brand new season continues to chronicle the journey of platinum artists Danity Kane, solo artist Donnie Klang and rising stars Day26. The MTV cameras were right there to capture Que, Robert, Brian, Mike and Willie from Day26 and solo artist Donnie Klang as they set off on their first promo tour this summer with label mates Dawn, Aubrey, Shannon, Aundrea and D. Woods from Danity Kane. Fans will continue to see the relationships with the guys and girls develop while on the road and watch them work and live together and ultimately compete for the top spot in the music business. Sri Lankan/American hip-hop artist, DeLon, questions Interscope
recording artist, M.I.A., for using images representative of the
terrorist group, The Liberation Tiger Tamils of Eelam (LTTE). The LTTE
has long been recognized by the FBI as one of the deadliest terrorist
groups in the world, and has been credited with the perfection of the
use of suicide bombers, invention of the suicide belt, mass recruitment
of child soldiers, and pioneering the use of women in suicide attacks.
The LTTE is only terrorist organization to have assassinated two world
leaders.

On July 29, 2008, DeLon posted his remixed version of M.I.A's song,
"Paper Planes" on YouTube. The educational video contained graphic
evidence of M.I.A's imagery and usage of the symbols of the LTTE.
Within 12 hours of release, the video drew over 10,000 user views and
comments. Hours later, Interscope under the Universal Music Group (UMG)
umbrella, had the video removed from YouTube for "endangerment" of
M.I.A.'s reputation as a "Freedom Fighter." Subsequently, DeLon is
filing a lawsuit against UMG for infringement of his 1st Amendment
rights. On July 31, 2008, the video was made available for download at:
http://public.me.com/ceylonrecords and generated over 6,000 downloads
in just 2 hours.
As the most recognizable Sri Lankan hip-hop artist after winning the
"Best Rap Performance" Award from Derana Music Television (equivalent
to MTV in the U.S.) and an emerging international star, DeLon, uses his
visibility and music to draw light to the LTTE's ongoing and inhumane
terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka. As one of the few entertainers willing
to stand up to the LTTE, DeLon has drawn mass popularity and
unprecedented support from Sri Lankans and Sri Lankan expatriates
throughout Sri Lanka, Australia, Germany, the UK, Canada, France, and
the United States.
DeLon is the first Sri Lankan/American to ever land on the U.S.
Billboard Charts, a feat he accomplished twice for his singles: "Calor
De La Salsa" and "Nasty Girl." As exemplified with his "The Unity
Through Education Tour," where he spoke to students in over 65 High
Schools and Colleges in the Greater LA area, DeLon stands for unity,
positivity and human causes that plague our society.

Fontana,
the independent sales, marketing and distribution division of Universal
Music Group, the world's leading music company, has partnered with Dogg
Pound Gangstaz to release the highly-anticipated new studio album from
Grammy Award-winning West Coast rapper Daz Dillinger, entitled Only On The Left Side on August 12,2008.
"One of the great delights about Fontana is the opportunity to
work with artists who set the standard in their game,” stated Ron
Spaulding, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Fontana.
“And Daz Dillinger is the embodiment of that ideal. Everyone at Fontana

Only On The Left Side
features cameo appearances by Snoop Dogg, Tyrese, Nicole Wray, Krayzie
Bone, Obie Trice, Manish Man and Keak Da Sneak. The album's title,
which references to the West Coast, is fitting
for an artist so widely known for his work with Death Row Records
during the height of the West Coast's popularity. After forming Tha
Dogg Pound with Kurupt and collaborating with Snoop Dogg, Dillinger
went on to release such classics as “R.A.W.”, “Dillinger & Gotti
II: Tha Saga Continuez” and “Retaliation, Revenge & Get Back”.
Only On The Left Side's
first single “Dip, Drop, Stop, Dip,” features Keak Da Sneak, a
collaboration that is a nod to Dillinger's roots as one of the
forefathers of the West Coast scene. The entire album was produced by
Dillinger, save for the notable exceptions of Swizz Beats, Soopa Fly
and Ivan Johnson on two tracks. Of the album itself, Dillinger says
“I've just been working, producing and I'm happy to get out there. This
record really speaks to the streets and there are no better partners
than Ron and his team at Fontana to ensuring it gets heard.”
When not in the studio, Dillinger found time to work on “Make It
Rain”, a movie that dramatized the commissioner of Atlanta's attempts
to shut down strip clubs and features associates of T.I., Alpha Mega,
Country Cain and Kandy Burelle of Xscape.
