Rangers sign Relaford to Minor League deal |

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels announced today the club has signed INF Desi Relaford to a minor league contract and has invited him to spring training.
Relaford has spent parts of 10 seasons in the major leagues with Philadelphia, San Diego, the New York Mets, Seattle, Kansas City and Colorado. He most recently played in the major leagues with Colorado in 2005 where he hit .224 with 16 RBI in 73 games for the Rockies.
He appeared in 11 games for Triple-A Memphis in the St. Louis organization in 2006, batting .121 with 3 RBI for the Redbirds in April and May.
Daniels also announced the Rangers have invited minor league RHP Jose Vargas to major league camp. Vargas has spent the last two seasons in the Mexican League. He made his pro debut in the Cleveland organization in 1998 and reached Triple-A in 2003 with Buffalo. He was signed as a minor league free by the organization on Sept. 6, 2006.
