Art Garfunkel: "A&E" and NYC Performances confirmed
Wednesday, 07 March 2007
ART GARFUNKEL will perform his first New York City concerts in four years this spring when he makes a two-night stand at The Allen Room at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz @ Lincoln Center Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14.  The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is touring in support of his 12th solo album, SOME ENCHANTED EVENING, of which USA Today said, “Garfunkel’s breathy, dreamy tenor is well suited to the jazz-tinged early pop standards on this collection, inspired by other classic smoothies such as Chet Baker and Johnny Mathis (2/13/07).”

Garfunkel and his band are also featured on A&E TV network’s “Breakfast With The Arts,” airing Sunday, March 18 performing songs from the new album—a critically praised collection of American standards released in January on Atco Records—as well as hits from the Simon & Garfunkel catalog.

XM satellite radio premieres an in-depth hour-long “Artist Confidential” profile beginning March 26 (with rebroadcast dates March 27, 29 and 31).  The program, featuring Garfunkel’s touring band  (Clifford Carter on piano, Ted Baker on keyboards, Larry Saltzman on guitar, and Clint DeGanon on drums) was recently taped at XM’s studios at Jazz @ Lincoln Center before an intimate, invited audience.

This week, Garfunkel and band leave for a 16-date European tour which will kick off Friday in England, also visiting Scotland, France, Denmark, Germany and Austria.  On a recent promotional visit to London, Garfunkel appeared on a BBC 1’s popular “Sunday Morning” TV chat show along with Prime Minister Tony Blair, where the two discussed a wide range of subjects, including their mutual love of music.
