John Bolton guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"
Monday, 19 March 2007
John Bolton, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, will make his first appearance as a guest on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Tuesday, March 20 at 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

Ambassador Bolton was appointed as United States Permanent Representative to the United Nations on August 1, 2005 and served until his recess appointment expired in December of 2006. Prior to his appointment, Ambassador Bolton served as Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security from May 2001 to May 2005. During his tenure at the United Nations, Bolton was an outspoken advocate of U.S. efforts to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, to push Syria out of Lebanon and to bring African peacekeepers into shaky Somalia. Along with France's ambassador, he led the Security Council to approve a unanimous resolution to end the summer 2006 Hezbollah war on Israel. In addition, Bolton was also an advocate for human rights, arranging the Security Council's first deliberations on Burma's human rights abuses and engineering the Security Council's approval of 22,500 U.N. peacekeepers in Darfur.
