Fat Joe Loyalty album is in Stores
SoHood Statement: Fat Joe is a real down to earth cat; there are only a few that embody the meaning So Hood in the Hip Hop game, and he's one of them. Special thanks, goes out to Veronica at Atlantic Records for hooking us up with the Interview. His Official Site: Fat-Joe.com
SoHood.com: I'm going to drop some names, tell me the first thang that pops into your head? Fat Joe thoughts about Big Pun: Greatest of all time, loyalty.
Fat Joe thoughts about 2pac: Most passionate artist about his music and most influential artist of all time.
Fat Joe thoughts about Suge Knight: Tha real deal; don't fuck with him or else guy.
SoHood.com: Do you have any dislike towards 50 Cent, because awhile back, he had said some slick shit about Big Pun? Fat Joe: Big Pun addressed him "To the 50 Cent Rapper, Real Funny, you're get you nut off, cause in real life you don't know me, I'll blow your mothafuckin head off, featuring Tony Sunshine team squaders" And we never heard from him [50 Cent] since, so I think he understood.
SoHood.com: So it was nothing major? Fat Joe: Nah, it was nothing major at all, I never was like yo when I see Fifty we fuckin him up or nothing like that. It was like, that was some shit, that Pun took as a joke too, you know what sayin. It wasn't like Pun as you know, well that nigga [50 Cent] he crazy beefin with me, fuck that, let's do whatever. Nah, it was never perceive that way.
SoHood.com: Which producer in your camp, are you most comfortable working with? Fat Joe: Well, you know, um, Cool and Dre..I mean, they right downstairs, Terror Squad producers you know. They're the most talented dudes that I've ever gotten to work with as far as you know coming up with ideas and really helping me, you know what I'm sayin; whereas other producers, I'll just get their beats you know and the rest is up to me.
SoHood.com: What other artists aside from yourself, do you listen to? Fat Joe: I'm a fan kid. I listen to a lot of R&B nah mean. I listened to the last Luther Vandross album. I listened to Jaheim I think he has the hottest album now. I listen to Musiq Soul Child and when it comes to Hip Hop I fuck with, I mean, I just brought the Freeway album.
SoHood.com: How was it ? Fat Joe: Some of the shit was dope, I was like, oh shit! Like his album is much better than you would think you know what I mean. Because the one question you have to ask yourself is "Can you take someone rapping like this for a whole album?" And he pulled it off you know, but that's how I felt. Cam'ron, of course Nore, Nas fo' sho you know and things of that nature. And of course, Eminem, I listen to M.
SoHood.com: What's your favorite flick that you never get tired of watching? Fat Joe: Favorite flick of mine is an old movie called The Wonderers it was about these group of Italian kids growing up in the South Bronx when there was mad gangs and homeboy was fucking the Mafia's daughter. It was an old school flick where if you see it now, then you seen it before a many times but you just don't know that's The Wonderers and it's a real dope movie it's the most fun I ever remember since I was a little nigga. I use to watch it every time it came on I'll bug out and watch it again.
SoHood.com: Favorite Hip-Hop Magazine? Fat Joe: XXL!!
SoHood.com: Who's your favorite heavyweight boxer? Fat Joe: I have to say Iron Mike Tyson.
SoHood.com: Did you catch the fight? Fat Joe: Yeah, I saw it Saturday. We also got homeboy Oquendo Puerto Rican Heavyweight he nasty, um.. he lost his last fight against David Tua but he ain't no joke.
SoHood.com: What is your opinion about President Bush campaigning for a War against Iraq? Fat Joe: Terrible! I mean, I'm pretty sure you know. I agreed with war with Afghanistan cause of what Bin Laden did you know; blowing up the Buildings and all that. I was campaigning for War but now you know what sayin, it just feels like what's his personal motivation.
SoHood.com : You think he has a hidden Agenda? Fat Joe:Yeah yeah, like what's his hidden agenda? His family was brought up by oil it's like I feel we fighting for oil, that's how I feel.
SoHood.com: How long are you going continue to drop these hot albums? Fat Joe I don't know man. I'm doing Tony next; Tony Sunshine and Remy Martin and I'ma lay back for a second and I'll probably come out next year sometime. But I don't really know I'm getting old man, I'm getting old.
SoHood.com: You getting better! Fat Joe: Laughs out loud...That's the weird shit, I'm getting old but better you know what I'm sayin, so I don't know man, I can't even answer that question. Sometimes I feel like you know let me just be thankful for this money I made, go down the to Miami and live in my house and chill with my wife. And sometimes you know I get that rush when I'm standing outside the club three minutes just before I have to perform and I know there's a thousand niggaz there ready to rock with me. I don't really got an answer.
SoHood.com: As far as upcoming projects you got any movies coming up? Fat Joe: Yeah !! They want me to do this Movie called Crow 3, I'm not sure.
SoHood.com: You're playin Crow? (Chuckles) Fat Joe: No, I'm not Crow. I'm one of the niggaz he'll probably kills. I'm doing this T.V. Show called live with Fat Joe at Jimmy on [Spanish Channel] Telemundo every weekend where he is going to have hip hop say like Fat Joe, Ja Rule will perform or something you know representin the Spanish hip hop aspect of tha game. It might be somebody like Lil Rob from Houston or the dope house niggaz Benny beach just showing Latinos in hip hop you know what sayin and different versions but at the same time have that real hip hop in there too. So you know just have all kinds of hip hop where people get a variety. I think Telemundo never seen something like that or rather the whole world.
SoHood.com: Is it going to be in Spanish? Fat Joe: It's going to be in English. We gonna represent Latinos and give them a Forum where some brothers who really been putting it down in the Spanish and hip hop thang; can finally perform in the same place on the same program as like Ja Rule and Nas and Fat Joe, and you know they get to be seen by the masses.
SoHood.com: Finally, any last thoughts that you want to leave your fans? Fat Joe: Loyalty in Stores now, I'm sayin if you ain't got it, go get it! Terror era, Ya'll Heard ME!
