Thursday, 16 August 2007
Set in a world where an age-old truce between the conflicted dark ones and light ones hangs in the balance among the unsuspecting humans, the action-packed fantasy thriller DAY WATCH soars onto DVD October 30th from Fox Home Entertainment. Available as an Unrated Edition DVD featuring footage not shown in theaters from the remarkable cinematic vision of cutting-edge director Timur Bekmambetov, DAY WATCH is the second installment of the innovative film trilogy (the follow-up to last year’s critically-acclaimed Night Watch) based on the best-selling horror/sci-fi novels by Sergei Luyanenko.  A “dazzling mix of state-of-the-art visual effects and amazing action sequences” (New York Magazine) set in contemporary Moscow, the Russian box-office smash hit DAY WATCH revolves around the ancient war between the forces of Light and Darkness that is reaching it’s tragic outcome.  The DAY WATCH Unrated Edition DVD includes the original theatrical Russian language version of the film, as well as an English language dub, along with “The Making of Day Watch” featurette, plus director commentary, original Russian trailers and more.  The DAY WATCH Unrated Edition DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $27.98 U.S. / $43.48 Canada.  In addition, Fox Home Entertainment will also be releasing the Day Watch / Night Watch Two-Pack Collection with both films packaged together priced at $34.98 U.S. / $45.98 Canada.

Synopsis:

DAY WATCH revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness -- the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides. Each side has gained a powerful Great Other, who are headed for a clash, and Anton Gorodetsky is once again caught up in the midst of this conflict. On one side is Anton’s son, Egor, who has joined the ranks of the Dark Others, while Anton’s love interest Svetlana is the hope of the Light. But that’s just the beginning of his troubles: Anton is on the run after having been accused of murder. Things are getting worse, and only the ancient Chalk of Fate can save the day. The problem is the magical Chalk was lost hundreds of years ago…
