With arrests 400% higher than anyone else in the department, London cop Nicolas Angel makes everybody else look bad. So he is transferred to a small town in the country where nothing ever happens. If you can stand the gore and profanity, you are in for a comedy treat. The screenplay is hilarious, and I dare say better than "Shaun of the Dead".

The acting is dead on; Simon Pegg portrays his character with total conviction and zeal. Plus, there are several references and homages/parodies of classic cop cinema. You'd be crazy to miss this one, just beware that there is no shortage of swearing and some of the gruesome murder scenes I have ever seen.

The bad thing is that the movie has no particular plot, and it tends to take too long to develop. The jokes in the movie are simple, and yet it feels smart enough for the audience. It does mix with a bit of cliché horror like "Scream" so audiences already know what's going happen. But I forgive them, because I think it is done deliberately so it won't feel so heavy. To those who don’t understand much of the British accent they may have difficulties to follow the jokes. But the slapstick and the camera movement actually help viewers to understand the comedy timing. I personally recommend this to those who like action comedy, especially British ones.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have amazing chemistry; along with a seemingly who's who of British cinema to back them up, Hot Fuzz is as wildly entertaining as 300, without the abs. Sorry, Nick.
