Superman: Doomsday, the "Death (and Return) of Superman" storyline has finally made it onto an animated DVD. The death of Superman was a huge event in both the comic book world as well as in the entertainment news industry. This DVD was hugely anticipated in the eyes of many superman fans, but does Warner and DC live up to the great “Death Of Superman” comic book series or does it fail?

"Superman: Doomsday" sort of rewrites many of the important plots of the infamous "Death of Superman" saga, you won’t get the four so called “ wannabe Superman's” that where featured in the comics, thus destroying the whole "Return of Superman" angle.

The movie starts to compress the whole event, from "Death" to "Return," what a huge mistake. This means: Doomsday's arrival is rushed, with very little impact on the viewer; the Superman/Doomsday battle, while impressive, it over too early, essentially deleting the title character from his own movie. I would have loved a little explanation on what happen to Doomsday after he's punched out. The "Return" storyline could have been worked up more, what we are left with seems rushed.

One of the best features in the disc is "Requiem and Rebirth: Superman Lives!" which is a documentary, you’ll get a behind the scenes look on what went on with the DC comic book writers and artists leading up to the death of superman.
