Wild Arms 5 Reviewed by: Mario Diaz Game Rating:
The first game in the series Wild Arms was a break out success on the Playstation one, it made its mark with RPG fans around the world, but then followed it up with not so great sequels which really hurt the series in the eyes of many gamers. Now in its ten-year anniversary the series is ready to reclaim it’s stake with Wild Arms 5. The game features an evolve battle system and playful anime presentation that seems it’s headed in the right direction. Just like the previous Wild Arms this game takes up a story of a Wild West epic draped with fantasy, it has a lot of tongue and cheek humor and romantic angles that make it a fun story. The voice acting and cutscences are pretty good, especially when the game insert humor more often then not. Dungeon running on Wild arms takes on a platform element, swapping conventional puzzle solving with a heavy doze of switch hitting, block pushing and pistol shooting. Shooting mode is mainly the vocal point while running around in places, a lot of switch and levels are too far to touch, thus making the pistol a need asset. The pacing of the game is quick and accessible, there are little compilations with weapons, leveling up and managing players. Wild Arms 5 pretty much works in almost every aspect, you find it to be one of the better RPG experience on the PS2. The game is bright, filled with engaging battles and quirky cutscenes that any gamer would surly enjoy.
