Playstation 3 Firmware 2.01 Now Available
Friday, 23 November 2007
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) today released firmware update version 2.01 for PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3) system, which includes the following enhancements to features delivered in previous firmware updates.

  • Improved stability when playing some PS3 format software;

  • Improved stability of some system applications, including the Internet Browser and Information Board;

  • Improved stability of the upscaler for PlayStation 2 format software when played on PS3 models that are backwards compatible;

  • The new Remote Start feature has been changed to avoid an unintentional power-on. Remote Start was introduced in firmware version 2.00 to enhance the Remote Play feature by enabling users to turn on a PS3 system remotely with their PSP system from an Internet hotspot.

SCEA continues to enhance the PS3 user experience and deliver added value with exciting new features through firmware updates. This efficient system also enables SCEA to quickly upgrade existing functionality based on consumer feedback.

To install the latest system software on your PS3 system, you can select the System Update feature when your system is connected to the Internet; use a PC to download the update data and transfer it to the PS3 system through storage media or a USB mass storage device; or install it using update data included on an upcoming game disc.
