Steve Earle Earns Two Grammy Noms & Announces Tour
Monday, 10 December 2007
Legendary music renegade Steve Earle was honored by the Recording Academy with two Grammy nominations for as he gears up for a European and North American tour in support of his critically acclaimed, 12th studio album, Washington Square Serenade (New West Records.)  The album was nominated in the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album category while Earle and his wife, Allison Moorer, were nominated in the Best Country Collaboration With Vocals category for their duet “Days Aren’t Long Enough” from Washington Square Serenade.  A new music video for the album’s first single, “City of Immigrants” will be available in December.  The video features Moorer as well as NYC’s Brazilian pop band Forro In The Dark - who are also on the album.

Earle, who is currently producing Joan Baez’s new record in Nashville, is also gearing up for European dates this January, directly followed by a North American tour.  The tour will be a unique one as Earle will also bring along DJ Neil McDonald, who will provide beats heard on songs off the album produced by John King of the Dust Brothers (Beck, The Rolling Stones, Beastie Boys).  Allison Moorer will be featured as a special guest during Earle’s set as well as opening support.

Beginning January 6th, Earle will appear in his recurring role as “Waylon” in the final season of HBO’s distinguished series, The Wire. Earle has also recorded a new version of the Tom Waits classic, “Way Down In The Hole” as the series theme song; which is also included on Washington Square Serenade.  Additionally, Earle hosts the The Steve Earle Show: Hard Core Troubadour Radio on Outlaw Country, SIRIUS Satellite Radio channel 63.  The one-hour show features Earle’s personal music selections and special guest interviews.
