Interview with Actor/Rapper Sticky Fingaz

Interview by Mario Diaz, So Hood Magazine So Hood.com

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: As you well know, New Line Home Entertainment is releasing Blade: The Series The complete Season on DVD February 12, 2008.  How did you feel about the work that you put into for the Blade TV series?
Sticky Fingaz:
I feel very good about my work on "Blade".  There are 12 episodes and I don't think I became married to the character until the third episode, so everything after that is golden.  Cop the DVD and check it out.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: How did you find out that the Blade series was canceled? What were your feelings afterwards?
Sticky Fingaz:
My manager or agent told me the series wasn't coming back for another season. It was fun while it lasted though.  I think Spike TV should have stepped up and gave it a second season.  "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" didn't take off until its second season.  To me, "Blade" warranted a second season; it broke ratings records for Spike in the first couple episodes. But I'm not mad at Spike TV; they had the balls to put it out in the first place.  I heard it was pretty expensive to make and it was their first stab at an original series.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: What are some of the fond memories from the cast or show that you most remember about?
Sticky Fingaz:
It was a great cast and we all had fun bringing the show to life.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: Have you and 50 Cent made amends with each other? Do you still dislike him?
Sticky Fingaz:
I never disliked him.  Actually, Onyx gave 50 his first shot at being in the public eye.  He was featured on the song and music video for "React" where we did an ice hockey scenario in the video.  So anybody that comes from our team and makes it big has my blessing.  Matter of fact, they say we come from slavery and picking cotton so any Black person that makes it big has my blessing.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: What are your thoughts as far as people like Bill O' Reilly and other news media attacking hip hop in general?
Sticky Fingaz:
I have no thoughts on that.  It's a waste of energy.  There are way more things wrong with the world and to spend time picking apart Hip Hop, that's a waste.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: Besides hip-hop do you listen to other genres of music?
Sticky Fingaz:
Yes. I listen to all genres of music and to me, there are no genres.  It's just good or bad music.  I don't have any favorites. I enjoy everything.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: Is Onyx coming out with an album this year in 2008?
Sticky Fingaz:
Yes, we are in the studio working on it right now.  It's called "The
Black Rock" a mix of Hip Hop and rock 'n roll like "Slam" and our work with Biohazard.  We'll be doing more touring in 2008 too.

So Hood Magazine So Hood.com: What are some upcoming film projects that your fans should be looking out for?
Sticky Fingaz:
I wrote, produced, directed and starred in a film called "A Day In The Life" which I did under my production company, Major Independents, in conjunction with Lionsgate Films.  The whole thing is done in rap; it's the first time something like this has ever been done.  It has an all-star cast consisting of Omar Epps, Mekhi Phifer, Ray J, Michael Rapaport, Drena De Niro, Michael K. Williams, Fredro Starr, Malinda Williams, Faizon Love and Treach just to name a few. I just did a TV pilot for A&E called "The Beast" with Patrick Swayze.  You can also check me out in the upcoming film "Order Of Redemption" alongside Busta Rhymes.
