Rick Ross' 'Trilla' tops charts
Wednesday, 19 March 2008
The sophomore album from Rick Ross was the only top 10 debut this week to post an improvement on the sales of  its predecessor.

"Trilla" (Slip-N-Slide/Def Jam), the second No. 1 for the Miami rapper, sold 198,000 copies in the week ended Sunday, according to Nielsen Soundscan data. His first disc, "Port of Miami," sold 187,000  in its debut week in 2006.

Hits compilation "Now That's What I Call Music 27" posted the lowest first-week tally since its debut 10 years ago. Coming in at No. 2, "Now 27" sold 169,000 units; the first week of the first volume sold 48,000.

Snoop Dogg's "Ego Trippin'" (Geffen) moved 137,000, a career low, to open at No. 3. Hit single  "Sensual Seduction" helped drive sales.

Rapper Fat Joe's "The Elephant in the Room" (Imperial) sold 46,000 copies to open at No. 6. His last disc, "Me, Myself and I," sold 60,000 copies in November 2006.

A second Now release, "Now That's What I Call 80's," sold 34,000 to open at No. 11. Sales are for the 20-track version of the release. Randy Jackson's "Randy Jackson's Music Club: Vol. 1" (Dream Merchant 21/Concord) moved 13,000 units to debut at No. 50.
