Everything you love about God Of war is crammed into the PSP, the combat, level design and gore. God of War: Chains of Olympusis a prequel of the first GOW, which at times becomes confusing but overall the story is pretty interesting, it ties in very well with the series.
The game still manages to keep the great combat system we’ve grown to love in GOW series in tack. A lot of the moves are combined since there are less buttons, but it actually works best and feels perfect. Only problem is that you have to push both L and R shoulder buttons to pull off an evaded maneuver.
The level designs are exactly what you’ll expect, opening a door that leads to numerous enemies that you must defeat in order to progress in the level that you've seen done before, and in fact you’ll see a lot of that. The backgrounds are very detailed and characters animations are flawless. This is all done with an almost none existing loading time, which in my book is always great. The cut scenes and gameplay are fantastic, it runs in the same level with what you saw on the PS2 console.
The puzzle solving aspect has been scale back this time around, thus making the game feel more combat orientated. Like GOW I and II, the voice acting is top notch, especially Kratos himself, whom sort of commands a presence on screen with his voice, if that’s possible, the narrator whom many of come to recognize also delivers a great performance.
It’s going to be impossible for any other game to top this on then PSP, it’s by far the best of the best on the handheld.
The Good: Great graphics and design. Best game on the PSP
The Not So Good: it’s a little short in my book
Purchase, Rent Or Just play In A Friends House: I’ll suggest to buy this title, it's a great game.
