Everthing worked today, as Johan Santana got a nice needed win at shea, beating the Reds 12-6 and everyone hit the ball around. I forgot Delgato alsohad three hits and a solo homer in the seventh. Here what the Mets said after the game:
"It's good to see that we're manufacturing runs," said Wright, whose Mets amassed 12 hits. "It's good to see we're not sitting back and relying on three-run homers to put up big numbers. It's almost like just keep the line moving. That for me is a bigger positive than the 12 runs, it's the way we're scoring."
Willie Randolph visited the mound, but Santana successfully lobbied to remain in the game. "There are going to be times when you're going to struggle, but you have to know what you're capable of doing," Santana said. "I had a feeling I could get that guy out, and I did."
"Today I went to the cage and focused on mechanics," Beltran said. "When the game started, I just focused on the ball."
