John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) delivers exactly what its' audience expects, intense action throughout with some very heroic "Rambo" moments. The plot is simplistic and more or less shallow, but of course, that is not the focus of the film. The heart and soul of John Rambo really surface in this fourth rendition. While there have been many critics over the years who have likened the character of Rambo to a psychopathic Vietnam vet who suffers from extreme bouts of violent rage, I have long seen another side to the character, and I think this fourth film has brought that to surface brilliantly.

There is a very humble side to Rambo's character. He doesn't like what life has made him into and is doing all he can to come to peace with who he is. Rather than behaving like an arrogant all-American bad-ass who, if he so chooses, can bring any and everyone’s life around him into utter chaotic destruction he practices restraint to the degree that it is safe to.

Sylvester Stallone ("John Rambo") stars in Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Rambo.

I have had enough of the "Im' a badass and I am gonna make sure you know it" attitude that is so prevalent in most action films. While I suppose one could take that away from this film, my opinion is that you have to read that into it.

Rambo is meek. He is powerful, but keeps that power under control exercising it reluctantly. He is also torn inside over the question as to how much does he involve himself in fighting against tyranny.

If you want a dose of the kind of reality that exists Burma and in many third world countries today watch this film. Stallone did a pretty good job with at least making the story a very believable one. Who else in the world is 61 years old and looks or moves that good? Name one? God bless you Sly for an amazing movie.
