Don King Presents: Prizefighter Game ReviewSoHood.com Reviewed by: Mario Diaz Format: Xbox360, DS, Wii Game Rating:
The story is simple; you’ll a fighter working his way to the top, to be the world champion, and looking to gain some stardom. Don King lends his name to 2K’s Prizefighter, you’ll see him and other actors throughout your boxing career through cut scenes. The game is much more realistic then other arcade-like boxing games on the market. There are around 30 real professional fighters included in the game, all I guess are boxers that are represented by Don King. First, you have to name and customize the fighter you are creating, I must say, the customization is very deep. You’ll get to choose the skin color, sizes of your jaw, nose, just every aspect of your fighter. You’ll train with your trainer Frank, but at times you could train with other trainers but that will lower your profile points. Profile points are the hype or your status in the media, the higher it is the more money, interviews you’ll do. That's the balance you’ll have to deal with, train for your fight or go to a media event to get your name in the paper. A boxer only gains experience in between fights, in the training room, it’s a little disappointing, I would have liked to gain some sort of points on how well I did in the boxing match. The controls are sometimes a little unresponsive, those big punches are just a tad bit late, and it sometimes feels as if you have to press it multiple times for it to work. Once your stamina meter gets depleted, forget about trying to knock your opponent, you’re worn-out until that bar gets at least half way. Prizefighter also offers an online experience, where you could take your fighter against some real opponents instead of the computer offline. The game has a good soundtrack that one could customize for their entrance music as well as the background music; most notable track was the ‘Eye Of The Tiger’. The Good: Great graphics and design. The roster of players, moves and overall style.
The Not So Good: The control system could have been tighter.
Purchase, Rent Or Just play In A Friends House: I’ll suggest to buy this title, it's a great acrade game to have when family or friends come over.
