Steve Carell again did a great job, it doesn’t seem that Carell wasn’t trying to duplicate what the original Get Smart actor Don Adams done with the role. One could say that Steve Carell was typed cast for this role, he’s almost doing what he's done in his previous comedies, he’s perfect for movie. Carell is a great actor that seems to act first then rolls with the comedy second.
I feel as if Dwayne Johnson, Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and the rest of the cast did there best job to save this film, there is only so much one can do with the script they are given. Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway have good chemistry together, but not in a romantic type, also it was totally unnecessary for the writers to inject this romance between Max and Agent 99 into the film. Yes, I know they shared the most time on screen then anyone else in the film, and it’s inevitable, but it didn’t feel believable.

The villain in the film played by Terence Stamp, who didn’t seem too comfortable in this role. And poor Ken Davitian, whom many will remember as the Fat guy in
Borat, did a decent job in the movie, but I can’t shake the image of him naked in Borat.
Overall, Get Smart is a good summer comedy that will get some laughs, in fact sometimes it was very hilarious, but not the really big laughs that I hope for going into the movie.
