UFC Mix Martial Arts has become a huge draw in the U.S and as well as a top seller in Pay-Per-View market. So it comes as no surprise that the next logical step for the sport is to enter the video Game market, but can a fast action/complex sport really translate well into consoles? Well, no and yes. As the developers captured the feel and the look of MMA, with only a few control problems,  it’s still a nice step in the right direction for next year’s game.

The Good: The character models look good, as each fighter looks like the real thing. Even the lumps and cuts that one culminates though a fight look impressive.

The career Mode is well balanced, as its both difficult and easy at times. There is always something going on, from gaining a new sponsor, to training and gaining new training equipment.

The commentators, I sometimes hate/love Joe Rogan, but I know he’s well informed, and it’s really smooth how it flows in the game, from when the announcers get excited when a fighter hits the mat or when a huge move is pulled off. The sounds in the game are also well done, as the punches sound real.

The Bad: It’s not easy, though the control scheme is simple, it’s still has a difficult learning curve, as in don’t expect to be a champ in your first hour or so. Practice, practice and soon your master the in’s and out’s of MMA.

The game could have been a little smoother, as many times punches or kicks don’t seem to hit but it still registers as if it did. Maybe, it’s just me, but I’ve would have wanted to see a little more fighters added to the roster, I felt that the total number was a tad short.

Overall, UFC 2009 Undisputed is a fun game to play, as it’s one of those games that’ll take sometime to master, but once you do, you’re set.
