Overview: To protect his brother-in-law from a drug lord, a former smuggler heads to Panama to score millions of dollars in counterfeit bills.

Review:  Chris Farraday (Mark Wahlberg) is a former-smuggler who was one of the best in the game, but now he’s happily living the straight life with his wife Kate (Kate Beckinsale) and their two adorable kids. He lives in New Orleans installing security alarms. His friend Sebastian (Ben Foster) ran several smuggling operations with him in the past. But when his brother-in-law Andy (Caleb Landry Jones) tries to do his own smuggling gig to get paid, he botches the job. Andy’s job was to smuggle drugs in and out of the United States on a cargo ship. But during a surprise inspection by the United States customs department, Andy got nervous and dumped the drugs, worth $700,000, into the Atlantic Ocean.

The person he didn’t deliver the goods to: Tim Briggs (Giovanni Ribisi) a psychotic criminal who gets upset and threatens Andy’s life. Chris is then pulled back into the smuggling game, so he can help Andy. He agrees to take on a job to repay Andy’s debt. Chris then heads to Panama, and leaves Sebastian to protect Kate and the kids from Briggs.

While in Panama, things go south when the counterfeit money isn’t done right. Chris then goes to talk to Walter (Jason Mitchell) about making things right.  Just before Chris and Walter are about to close the deal. Andy received a text message by a guy named Ruben threatening him to deliver the money to a drug connect in Panama in exchange for drugs. He runs off with the duffel bag of money leaving Chris with no choice but to help Walter go through with the heist. Chris makes it out alive and comes away with a rare piece of art, worth millions, in the armored car. Chris gets on board of the cargo ship. Two of the ship’s crew members: the cook and the ship’s engineer as usual in past dealings with Chris, they helped him smuggle the money and the drugs onto the cargo ship.

Meanwhile, Chris tries to avoid from getting caught by the United States customs department on the ship, and his wife tries to avoid from getting killed by Tim.

Overall, I really enjoyed how the ending was set up. Everything revolves around the money and the drugs. Things get real interesting after Mark and his shipmates successfully smuggle the materials onto the cargo ship. I highly recommend Contraband, there’s never a dull moment throughout the entire film.

The Good: It’s an enjoyable heist film. It kept me entertained all the way to till the end.

The Bad: I think some of the cast members like Caleb Landry Jones didn’t perform to the standards that Ben foster did. Ben did a remarkable job.

Memorable Quotes:
Chris Farraday: I’ve got to try and fix this. Trust me, I know what I’m doing.
