In Prototype 2 you play as James Heller, who was infected by Alex Mercer. James goal is to hunt down the man responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter. As a protagonist, James Heller is a bad-ass, with a dark and fearsome demeanor that fits right into the chaotic world of Prototype 2. Though it’s strange having Alex Mercer portrayed as a villain.
14 months have passed since the first Prototype game, nothing really has changed, New York Zero as it’s now called, is still under attack. You still have Blackwater, the infected, and the hopeless remaining humans.
Prototypes 2 feels more polished and smoother than the first Prototype. The missions are more varied and the weapons are more potent this time around. The movement and combat is still very responsive.

When you consume someone, and that’s something you’ll be doing a lot of, you’ll get a quick glimpse of that persons memory in one of those fancy cut scenes.
The cut-scenes are a huge upgrade from the previous game. They do a great job of setting up the main story, as you uncover deceitful actions and a conspiracy heavy story.
Prototype 2 is the most fun I had in a while, but midway through the main campaign, the story didn’t matter, it was all about destroying tanks, enemies and anyone who would stand in my way.

The open-world environment is still as fun as ever; looking for hidden objects that will further your abilities is a good way of giving you an incentive to go hunting.
The only real bump on the road is that once you level up, there isn’t any challenge. You can easily take down helicopters, tanks and soldiers that are shooting at you. The only real obstacles left are the boss battles in the main campaign, that’s if you already didn’t finish them off yet.
Closing comment: Though the game is similar to the first prototype game, it still has enough features, and improvements to satisfy those who love the first game.
