Review: On Ralphie May’s latest stand up special titled ‘Too Big to Ignore’ out now on DVD, he demonstrates that he has what it takes to command a full room of people and make them laugh. However, Ralphie starts off strong but then fades out. He touches on several topics from his wife Lahna Turner and his two children to Mexican labor, politics, gays, and the N word.
At times, throughout Ralphie’s stand up routine, it felt unsettling watching such a big man talking about sex for most of his entire routine and for the most part, he didn’t make me laugh. I felt like he needed to polish his delivery a little more. In the past, he had spoken on sex topics and relationships, but back then he did it in a very smart and funny way, but not on this stand up special. It felt more like he was talking to the audience or rather giving them a lecture, than actually delivering the punchline to the joke. Also Ralphie yelled a lot more than he usually did in his previous successful stand up specials.
Overall, I recommend you guys to catch it on netflix. But honestly, it’s not of one Ralphie’s best stand up specials.
