Check your logic at the door and strap yourself in for quite a ride. “Wanted” borrows liberally from the stunt work begun in “The Matrix” but raises the bar considerably. James McAvoy plays Wesley Gibson, 25 yr old accountant in a dead-end cubicle job. Wesley’s boss was a fat, shrilly, mean-spirited woman. His girlfriend was a screechy slut that was cheating on him. Wesley didn’t know that he was destined to become an assassin just like his dad. Fox (Angelina Jolie) and Sloan (Morgan Freeman) then recruit him into a secret society of fraternity assassins where he is trained to become an assassin. Little did he know that he would be the one who has to be assassinated.

It’s an interesting story, which is full of, twist and turns. The actors and actress delivered good performances but not worthy of an Oscar nod. The plot is secondary, to the action and there is plenty of it. Ms. Jolie basically plays the same role as she did in “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” only with more of an edge and a lot of sex appeal. The flow of the movie was good showing Wesley’s transformation from a lowly accountant into an assassin who slowly comes to believe in himself.

The visuals were great especially the train sequence. It’s a good action movie for the action movie buffs. The stunt work is nothing short of spectacular and you will do yourself a disservice if you don’t see this on a big screen. An early car chase in the film is breathtaking and a train crash later on, while just impossible to believe, is still amazing to watch.

“Wanted” is a perfect action packed “popcorn” movie.
