Gears Of War 2 is larger, superior and more badass then the first Gears Of War, I’m not saying anything new here. Just by the looks of the game, you can tell it’s been enhance in almost every way, but not alter enough that it strays from the first Gears Of War. There isn’t anything wrong with the game that is too glaring, as it still gory and feature one of the best cover system in gaming.

Though the main storyline is to take on the Locust and Mont an assault on there turf, you pretty much know that already coming in, there is also a focus on Dominic Santiago’s search for his wife, Maria, which I won’t spoil, but I would say that it’s an emotional story, with drama and meaning behind it.

The campaign mode is beautifully executed, as it takes the right amount of hours to compete, never making you feel as if it’s a burden to finish. The latter part of the story will feature members of the Delta squad, which will led to a reunion of the group with Augustus Cole and Damon Baird, lending a hand for nothing but ass kicking carnage.

The weapons are much stronger this time around, as my favorite weapon to use is the mortar, which is both powerful yet extremely hard to master. But if you get the range and height right, it’s able to clear a section of Locusts with else.

Horde mode is pretty fun, with five players to aid you, as you take on enemies that increase their difficulty over time. This feature really puts your teamwork to the test, as you’ll have to revive your friends multiple times, as well as count on them to help you. The online feature on GOW 2 is pretty much the same, as the first game., but it’s still fun to go online as chainsaw an opponent to death with your lancer.

The voice acting once again, is great, as John Di Maggio who voiced Marcus Fenix does a wonderful job, as well as the whole entire cast. The sounds and music are also great, as you hear the famous chainsaw start up, before slashing your enemy while you hear its body getting ripped opened.

Gears Of War 2 is one of those games that is a defiant purchase in my book, if you have only one game to buy this year, it’s this.
