With out going into too much details on the storyline on how these two worlds collide, I’ll simply say that whoever penned the two different story versions, one for DC, one for MK, did a great job. A yellow glowing rage, which causes him or her to fight in anger, affects pretty much everyone, it’s perfect motive to slug each other.
I love the style and costumes the developers have chosen on the DC Comic characters, Catwoman is wearing a purple suit, rather then the movie version which was black, as well as Batman, who dawns the classic gray suit rather then the all black you see in the dark night movies.
The graphics are top notch compared to the last Mortal Kombat game, smoother animations on each fighter. Nice 3D environments, one could throw an opponent over an edge or through a wall, to reveal a different looking stage. The cut scenes are great, as it showcases a lot of detail among the DC and Mortal Kombat characters, also a nice touch on the women characters in the game, it’s a little distracting at first, you know what I mean when you see it. The voice acting is O.k., with a few jokes mixed in, mainly The Joker of course, no overacting found here.

Not So Good: The lack of modes, only around three, story mode, arcade, a combo challenge. Luckily there is still an online version mode. The really gory stuff that many Mortal Kombat fans love, now I know that some compromises had to be done in order for DC to agree to this game, but I need my bloody fatalities, not hating on the Heroic brutalities, but c’mon what was wrong with the Joker’s original finisher.
Also who can stand toe to toe with Superman? Apparently, anyone in the game, and that’s the problem. I don’t like the fact, that Superman isn’t as strong as he should be, just a regular fighter among the rest.
Not that much to unlock, only two DC and Mortal Kombat characters, Shao Kahn, when you complete the Mortal Kombat story arc. Darkseid, when you complete the DC story arc. I would have at least hoped for at least five to ten more playable characters to unlock.
Overall, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a respectable game that MK and DC fans can enjoy, nothing groundbreaking, but still a joy to play.
