The summer’s steamiest television show, SWINGTOWN, sizzles its way onto DVD for the first time on
December 9 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. From the Emmy nominated director of Six Feet Under, SWINGTOWN is one of the most talked about shows on broadcast television. Showcasing brand new special features and audio commentaries, all 13 episodes of SWINGTOWN The First Season arrive on DVD as a four-disc set.
A flashback to the suburban summertime of 1976 when America’s sexual revolution was at its height, SWINGTOWN mixes sexy plot lines alongside family drama and real-life issues faced by married couples. Superbly acted and critically adored, the show features arousing performances from Grant Show (Melrose Place, Ryan’s Hope) and Molly Parker (Deadwood, Six Feet Under) as it follows three couples exploring new freedoms and seeking connections with each other through open marriages, “key parties” and other swinger’s extravaganzas.
Boasting incredible nostalgic detail in design and clothing, SWINGTOWN also stars Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Lana Parrilla (24), Josh Hopkins (Brothers & Sisters) and Miriam Shor (Big Day).
SWINGTOWN The First Season bonus features include “The Spirit of ’76: The Making of SWINGTOWN,” which walks audiences through how producers authentically re-created 1976 through production design, costumes, hair and makeup, and “Have a Nice Revolution: Sex & Morality in 1970s America,” a thematic piece chronicling the show’s major real-life influences – the sexual revolution, feminism, disillusionment post-Watergate, the economy and the advent of recreational drug use. The set also contains a gag real, deleted scenes and audio commentaries by Director Alan Poul and Series Creator Mike Kelley.
