Saw V brings in tons of more blood than Saw IV, this time around it brings in an emotional back story and intense yet relevant current-time plot. The Directing/Visuals are amazing, and the acting is as bad as the first if you consider Julie Benz and Meagan Good, but they were the snobby women they needed to be, while Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Scott Patterson, and Greg Byrk delivered some of the best performances in the series so far. While it doesn’t have a big twist, it doesn’t stop it from having the most shocking and pulse pounding ending since the first film. Essentially, Saw V delivered everything I could want in a Saw sequel and more.
“The Jigsaw Killer” became a trademark, like Mike Myers in Halloween but it’s already upgraded in the level of horror. Every time the killer got a good reason to punish his victim. In the labyrinth, you felt helpless but he could choose to survive and give up (i.e. Death). It surely represent the life is full of decision. Sometimes it is hard to make the right one as we always try to escape from what we had decided. It would be wrong because we could be fooled by our fascinations.
This time, he chose five to join the game. That raised conflicts amongst all. I remembered they were asked to work together to survive. It began so intrigued that you felt the same. He took you into the plot and soon found out the reason yourself. It also added some humor in it. It made fun of the heroic cops who thought they could arrest all serial killers.
