Right out the gate, from the very opening scene there was ass kicking and bones being broken. Bone (Michael Jai White) is a handsome man and I loved way he beats down seven or eight dudes in the opening jail scene like it’s nothing, he made it look easy. Once he gets out of jail, he partners with a street fight promoter named Pinball (Dante Basco) in which fights are set up and Bone beats all of them down. Bone’s only obstacle is to beat a huge man named Hammerman (Bob Sapp) who works for James (Eamonn Walker). Bone is really fighting to keep a promise that he kept for Danny his cellmate. He was killed by JC (Kimbo Slice) which the hit was put through by James. James wanted Danny’s girlfriend Angela (Michelle Belegrin) so he had Danny killed. Angela now a drug addict who had a child but gave him away looks disinterested in James throughout the entire film. Bone tries his best to help Angela reunite her with her child. Bone knows where her child is because he had been living in a rented apartment place where people like Tamara (Nona Gaye) help kids.

After James witnesses Hammerman get his ass kicked by Bone, he offers Bone an opportunity to fight Franklin McVeigh’s (Julian Sands) number one fighter named Price (Matt Mullins) for 5 million dollars. Bone refuses James’ offer, which in turn upsets James. But Bone goes all out by killing James’ goons one by one. James gets Bone to fight Price, which was  a very entertaining fight, then suddenly Bone fights James in a final showdown. Without giving away too much, I’ll say that the fight scenes in this film were the best, I’ve seen in a long time. The cast was flawless and they performed very well.

As for the features on the DVD, there wasn’t really much but a behind the scenes featurette of the making of Blood and Bone, which was interesting to watch. Overall, I definitely suggest our So Hood readers to pick up the DVD, it’s pure MMA on a street level without the rules.
