Newspaper apologizes for incorrect ad. A Philadelphia newspaper has apologized to readers for mistakenly running an ad congratulating the Philadelphia Phillies on winning back-to-back World Series titles.
The three-quarter-page Macy’s ad is on the back of the front section and features a T-shirt with the Phillies logo, the commissioner’s trophy and the phrase “Back To Back World Series Champions.”
Shades of 2000 in Damon’s Heads-Up Ninth. The Yankees will try on Monday to do precisely what they did in 2000, when they last won the World Series. With two out, the bases empty, and the score tied in the top of the ninth inning, Damon faced Phillies closer Brad Lidge, who had not blown a save this postseason. One more out, and the Yankees would have summoned Phil Coke in the bottom of the ninth.-New York Times
No longer a joke, A-Rod delivers again. Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez celebrate after scoring on Jorge Posada’s two-run single in the top of the ninth in Game 4 of the World Series. Now they stand one victory removed from doing it for the 27th time in their history and the first time in A-Rod’s history. Is there a place for him among the Gods of the Bronx now? -Newsday.com
Lidge’s perfect postseason ends at wrong time. The Yankees have a 3-1 lead and can clinch their 27th title in Philadelphia on Monday night.”You always want to go out there and have good results,” Lidge said. “Any time you don’t do well, it’s frustrating. Obviously, the guys did a great job coming back tonight. I really wish we could have come out with the win here. We’ve got to get back to New York and keep going. Hopefully I get another chance to get out there and get a win or a save for our team.” -Lincoln Daily News
