With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar, through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven – and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
Review: The latest installment of the Harold & Kumar movie franchise where John Cho plays Harold and Kal Penn plays Kumar are back again with A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas (Extra Dope Edition) on Blu-ray and DVD.
Six years have elapsed since Guantanemo Bay, the viewer then gets to see that things have moved forward as far as both Harold and Kumar lives are concerned. They are in two different places in their lives. Harold has succeeded in life, he’s got a gorgeous wife in Maria whose played by actress Paula Garcés, he’s got a house, and he’s made some nice money while Kumar still lives in a small apartment getting high everyday and hasn’t progressed in life.

Kumar inadvertently burns down Harold’s father-in-law’s beloved Christmas tree
Harold’s wife Maria (Paula Garcés) entire family comes over to spend the Christmas. Maria’s father Mr. Perez (Danny Trejo), dislikes Harold as well as his Christmas tree. Therefore, Mr. Perez brought his own Christmas tree that means a great deal to him and his family. So having said that, Kumar arrives on Harold’s doorstep during the holiday season with a mysterious package in hand, he inadvertently burns down Harold’s father-in-law’s beloved Christmas tree. To fix the problem, Harold and Kumar embark on a mission through New York City to find the perfect Christmas tree, once again stumbling into trouble at every single turn.

(L-R) Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn)
After Harold kicked Kumar out his house for burning down the Christmas tree. Kumar and Adrian brought a Christmas tree for Harold but then again another Christmas tree gets destroyed by Kumar. So Harold, Kumar, Adrian, Todd, and Todd’s baby daughter, then head to New York City where they go through a lot just to get Harold his Christmas tree. They play beer pong (picture depicted up above) for a Christmas tree, they also try to avoid from being killed by a murderous Ukrainian gangster. Also Harold and Kumar get so high that the viewer gets to see a Claymation hallucination, oh yeah, it wouldn’t be right, if we don’t get our usual Neil Patrick Harris cameo, where he does a musical Christmas Broadway number with Harold and Kumar dancing with him on stage.

Even Jesus made a cameo on A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the film, it’s as good or better than the previous one. I liked the 3D visual effects on blu-ray, which on some scenes they really came to life on screen. I saw the Extended version of this film, only a few more scenes were added and it didn’t really make much of a bit of difference than the Theatrical version, but at the end of the film, all I know is that I came away entertained and I think you will too.
The Good: Everything was on point. Can’t wait for another one.
The Bad: Nothing bad to say about it.
Memorable Quotes:
Kumar: [Upon being asked to go to a Christmas Eve party] No can do man. I have to stay here and smoke this weed, otherwise I won’t get high.
Kumar: I haven’t shaved since you left. Pretty romantic, right? Like Ryan Gosling in “The Notebook.”
Harold: Koreans have killed his mother and now his tree. Christmas is ruined.
Harold: The tree is a cancer. We have to get rid of it before it kills Christmas.
